New Lakeview Breaking Ground

Forty years ago, La Crosse County opened a modern nursing home for the mentally ill at West Salem.  Now, the Lakeview Center needs to be replaced, so the county is breaking ground today for new residential facilities for people living at Lakeview.  The project is expected to cost about 17-million dollars.  Meanwhile, another groundbreaking for the county is set next week.  A ceremony on Monday will mark the official start of construction on Lot C, the former courthouse parking lot.  Weber Holdings is promising more than 60 million dollars worth of development on the block where a Montgomery Ward store stood for 25 years.
