State Spelling Bee Results

A brother and sister from La Crosse finished high in the state spelling

championships this weekend in Madison.  Three members of the Jarrett family qualified for state during the regional bee at West Salem last month.  Nathan Jarrett of Lincoln Middle School came in 5th in Saturday’s Badger Bee, and younger sister Lauren from Blessed Sacrament School was in 12th place.  The third sibling, Janelle, was unable to compete this weekend.  Students from Providence Academy and Onalaska Middle School also competed at state.  This year’s overall state champion is Ashwin Sankrithi, an 8th grader from New Berlin.  He and two spellers from the Madison area will represent Wisconsin in the Scripps National Spelling Bee this May.
