Lokken Case Still Working Through UW-L

The U-W System will take its time in responding to a charge of hiring

discrimination, filed by a long-time U-W-L department head. A November 21st deadline had been set for the system to answer charges of nepotism made by Jay Lokken.  But an attorney for the general counsel’s office, Jennifer Lattis, says she’ll file an official response by December 8th…because there is so much material to review in Lokken’s complaint.  Lokken had been the director of International Education on the La Crosse campus until this fall, when he was reassigned after complaining that the university bypassed the usual hiring procedures to appoint a vice-chancellor’s wife to a post in Lokken’s department.  Lokken claims he was threatened with retaliation by higher-ups on campus, if he tried to block that hiring decision.
