Villlage Board Member Opposes Referendum

There’s opposition to the referendum going before voters in the village of West Salem next week.  And among the opposition is village board trustee, Walter Baltz.  He’s the lone voice on the village board to oppose it.  Says a government can either come up with a wishlist of things that it wants and raise taxes to pay for it all or…

And Baltz thinks it more fiscally prudent to do the latter.  The referendum would add 25% to the village property tax levy.  Without it, supporters say the village may have to cut back on snow plowing and street repairs.
