City Mulls Rail Company Offer

The city of La Crosse will review an offer from Burlington Northern to get a move on regarding a new set of tracks.  BNSF has offered to pay for removal of current rail crossings at the Forest Hills Golf Course, for building a new tunnel at the course and for relocating a dozen city lines.  The offer is contingent on the city giving up challenges to the second set of tracks that would not only run through Forest Hills but stretch from about Central High to the railroad company’s yard on the northside.
