AARP Urges Calm on Social Security

Medicare’s better.  Social Security is a little worse.  Those are the latest projections from the Congressional Budget Office this week detailing outlooks for the nation’s top two entitlement programs.  Don’t push the panic button just yet, responds the Wisconsin AARP’s Lisa Lamkins

Lamkins also notes that, even with federal projections that the Social Security trust fund will go bust in 16 years, there will still be enough money coming in to the program to pay 75% of current benefits.  Probably still a good time, she says, to start talking about how to fix the program’s financial woes.
