Over 150 firefighters from area departments converged on Monroe and La Crosse
County Wednesday, battling 4 wild wildfires.
One started around 5:30 p.m. in northern La Crosse County near the Four Corners area. The dry conditions and wind caused the fire to spread quickly and grow. Estimates are that more than 100 firefighters from 5 different departments and the D.N.R were on scene.
In Monroe County, 2 fires were so hot they showed up on weather radar. Firefighters fought three blazes…one at Four Corners North of Sparta…..one just Northeast of Fort McCoy and another near Norwalk. One fire scorched around 78 acres of dry land. Firefighters were relieved around 2 this morning.
