Pay To Park Begins Soons
They started installing ticket gates months ago…At last, the city of LaCrosse
has chosen a date to begin operating those gates in the downtown parking ramps. The gates will be operational on Monday, April 21st, and that first day of gated parking will be free. That Tuesday, parking will cost 75 cents an hour after a three-hour grace period. Parking board chair Audrey Kader is relieved to have a date finally set, so the panel can get on with other issues:
The ticketing system in the ramps will end a 30-year tradition of completely free hourly parking in downtown La Crosse…a tradition that some business owners wish would continue.
