26-year-old Holmen woman pleads not guilty in drug death

A Holmen woman pleaded not guilty in La Crosse County court Wednesday to a reckless homicide charge in a drug-related death.

Rachel Brockway will be scheduled for trial in the 2023 death of a male friend.

The 26-year-old is accused of supplying heroin, apparently mixed with fentanyl, to the victim, who died after taking the drug in a local parking lot back in February of last year.

A medical examiner testified at a previous hearing that the man died after using a combination of drugs.

Brockway remains in the La Crosse County jail under a $200,000 cash bond. Her next court hearing is March 28.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
