Carter and Haller could be tried together for their roles in La Crosse shooting incident
A La Crosse man accused of recently shooting another man in the leg is still looking for an attorney.
Lenell Carter could be assigned a public defender, to represent him on an attempted murder charge. The 41-year-old Carter is accused of firing a gun at a man who punched him in the mouth near a north La Crosse bar on January 14th. The victim received three bullet wounds, according to police.
The gun had been carried by Carter’s girlfriend, Tessa Haller, who’s charged as an accessory in the shooting.
Carter and Haller appeared together before Judge Scott Horne on Wednesday, and the judge suggested that the two cases could be combined into one. Both defendants are scheduled to return to court on February 8th, partly to see if Carter finds an attorney by that time.
