Vinny Trussoni, a La Crosse area native, is being honored with throwing out the first pitch at the Detroit Tigers-Cleveland Guardians game on May 7, 2024, to represent the Cleveland Clinic, as part of Nurses Week.

Vinny Trussoni is a nurse for the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus.

As part of National Nurses Week, Trussoni, a La Crosse area native, was recently selected to represent the tens of thousands of nurses at the clinic and throw out the first pitch for Tuesday’s Detroit Tigers-Cleveland Guardians game at Progressive Field.

With WIZM’s Rick Solem, the two talk about the honor, practicing throwing off a mound, the nerves of being in front of that crowd, if you should bring your glove and how many hot dogs will be eaten afterwards.

Trusssoni is a De Soto High School graduate, who is from Battle Hollow — just south of La Crosse.
