Heavy snow coming to La Crosse Monday, Tuesday

If you’ve been waiting for La Crosse to get its first significant snowstorm of the winter, it might just happen Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service, La Crosse is on the northern fringe of a heavy band of snow expected to hit hardest in places like Platteville and Madison.

The chance of getting 4 inches of snow, starting Monday night, is about 90 percent in Prairie du Chien, 70 percent in La Crosse and only 40 percent in Wabasha, Minn.

The chance of 6 inches of new snow in La Crosse is less than 50per cent, with only a 20 percent chance of getting 8 inches.

The possibility of snow decreases north of La Crosse, with Minneapolis seeing less than a 10 percent chance of 4 inches.

So far, La Crosse has received 4.4 inches of snow for the entire season.
