It appears that one of the suspects in a triple murder at a La Crosse County quarry is ready to reach a plea agreement.

Online court records show that Kham Rattanasack has a plea hearing scheduled on October 30th before Judge Elliott Levine. Rattanasack and co-defendant Nya Thao are accused in the shooting deaths of three men at a quarry near West Salem in 2021, allegedly in a dispute over a debt of $600.

Rattanasack had previously been scheduled for a plea hearing in May, but that was delayed. During June, he testified at Thao’s trial in La Crosse, and blamed Thao for the deaths. The jury at the Thao trial was unable to reach a verdict.

Thao is waiting for a new trial, but in court last week, his bond was reduced from $1 million cash to $500,000. Rattanasack is now being held in a state prison, while Thao is in the La Crosse County jail.
