Huesmann to be sworn in as La Crosse County judge on Wednesday

A vacant circuit court seat in La Crosse County will be filled Wednesday afternoon, when Mark Huesmann is sworn in as the new judge of Branch 3.

Huesmann was appointed by Governor Evers last month, shortly before the retirement of Judge Todd Bjerke, who served 16 years on the bench.

The Holmen attorney already has experience as municipal judge for Onalaska and other communities in La Crosse County.

Huesmann has been sitting in on court cases with other La Crosse judges this month, as part of his training process. He’ll serve a one-year term, and could run for a full six-year term next April. Huesmann is not scheduled to hear cases until next week.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
