Multiple injuries in Wednesday car crash on South Avenue near Gundersen

Several people transported to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash closed part of South Avenue in La Crosse for about an hour.

La Crosse Police said in a statement several people had to be transported after the accident, for treatment of serious injuries.

According to a video posted online, at least three vehicles may have been involved.

Officers were called to the scene near the Gund Brewery Lofts, south of Gundersen, at around 2:30 p.m. The street reopened before 4 p.m.

It happened on a section of South Avenue which is undergoing reconstruction.
