UPDATE: Juvenile suspect in recent La Crosse child death could appear in court soon

A 16-year-old male arrested last week for 1st degree murder in connection to the death of a child is expected to appear in a La Crosse courtroom this week.

The arrest was announced late Friday morning, and a list of new county jail inmates issued on Monday included a 16-year-old prisoner facing a homicide charge. But that specific prisoner did not appear in Monday’s usual intake court hearing.

Officers went to a north La Crosse home on June 14th to find a child dead. An autopsy was ordered, but police have not released the victim’s name or the cause of death. A state crime scene response unit and the State Patrol also have worked on the investigation.
