The Judiciary and Administrative Committee approved Tuesday plans to expand two La Crosse city boards.

The panel voted to add more members to the Arts Board and the Climate Action Committee.

City staffers argued that increasing the size of the climate committee could better help them take action on recommendations in a citywide plan.

On the size of the Arts Board, they said adding two new members could increase diversity in local arts programs.

In other committee business, it voted for an amendment to fencing rules at local beer gardens.

The change would apply to fences at courts for pickleball and volleyball, which are not covered by zoning codes that regulate fencing for other outdoor sports in La Crosse.

The proposal goes to the full council for a vote next week.
