La Crosse students go over installation of solar panels at two public schools
La Crosse’s public schools are becoming more eco-friendly, in generating energy. Two schools this year are putting in solar panels, to reduce their costs and their dependence on other sources of energy.
The La Crosse Polytechnic School on 5th Avenue and Summit School on French Island are following the example of other local schools, such as Hamilton and Northside Elementary, which have seen cost savings from solar.
A fundraising goal of $100,000 has been set to install the solar equipment at Summit and Polytechnic.
Summit School, on French Island, is also due to get solar panels. Similar energy-saving measures have been taken at Hamilton and Northside elementary schools in La Crosse.
Students at Polytechnic are displaying ideas they have for using solar energy, to power devices around the home such as lighted mirrors.
