“Hear, Here” history project might soon include North La Crosse stories
A local history project in La Crosse could be expanded beyond downtown.
City leaders are being asked to spend about $40,000 on the “Hear, Here” project, which allows people to make phone calls to listen to recorded stories about La Crosse landmarks and events.
Hear, Here was started nearly a decade ago by UWL history professor Ariel Beaujot, who wants to add more recordings specifically about the north side of La Crosse. Beaujot tells the board of public works that the recordings have become a tourist draw for La Crosse, and says the idea has spread to communities in Canada and Luxembourg.
The new recordings could be ready by the spring of 2024, if the funding is approved.
