Capital budget for La Crosse passes committee; new skate park being proposed
A $39 million dollar budget for capital improvements in La Crosse has cleared the committee stage, and goes to the full city council next week.
The CIP budget was passed with some minor changes, mainly postponing some street projects for a year.
The spending plan for 2023 includes $4 million for a new Gillette Street fire station, and a million dollars to help fund improvements at the Kids Coulee playground in Myrick Park.
Money for developing a parking lot at Erickson Park would be taken out, so a skate park could be planned on the same land for 2024. The amount taken from the ’23 budget is about $150,000.

I am so disappointed to hear we are spending so much for parks, and so little for our homeless neighbors. Tragic!
