La Crosse prisoner dies after self-inflicted injuries

A La Crosse County prisoner died, days after allegedly attempting to kill himself in jail.

John Koskovich of Mindoro, Wis., died at a local hospital. The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department said Koskovich had injured himself in his jail cell on the morning of Aug. 14. He was transported to Mayo.

Koskovich had 10 open cases in La Crosse County court, dating back two years.

The Monroe County sheriff’s office and the state corrections department are assisting La Crosse County in the investigation.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
