West Coast Story (What’s Buried on Brad’s Desk, Oscar Version)

After a year of a downscaled, “different” ceremony during COVID-19, the Oscars are ready to go back to their usual big award show in a theater for 2022. In a year where one of the contenders is a remake of “West Side Story,” I wonder…is America ready for the old-fashioned Oscars?

(sung to the tune of “America” from “West Side Story”)

Time for the Oscars on ABC
Where they award creativity
Red Carpet fashion for all to see

And looking out for diversity

(They have plenty of presenters and nominations, but somebody’s always left out.)

Actors believe they’ve were slighted
Saying that they weren’t invited
Some folks don’t like Amy Schumer
Some folks have no sense of humor

People now think the Academy
Doesn’t like cinematography
Only has time for celebrities
Go back to how it’s supposed to be

(Now, we get a brief dance break, to which some folks will say, “Oh, yeah, you have time for dances and movie montages, and you don’t have time for the freaking hairstyling award?”
You picked the wrong person, they opened the wrong envelope, big shot movie star mispronounces a name, every host is bad. This person better win, or else.  And the memorial segment could take up half the show.  Back to the song.)

MGM bought up by Amazon
Watching the show with pajamas on

Oscars might still be a marathon
Wondering what other shows are on!

Won’t be just any night, folks.
