Train derailment over weekend north of Winona to keep Hwy. 61 down to one lane

Highway 61 northbound expected to remain one lane Monday, after a train derailment over the weekend about 15 miles north of Winona.

About 10-12 cars derailed around 9 a.m. Saturday in Minneiska, Minn., according to the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Department. It added that all the cars were dry and empty. Nobody was injured in the incident.

Canadian Pacific Railway workers and others will continue cleanup and repair work on the railroad Monday keeping the highway down to one lane, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
