Main library renovations in La Crosse begin Saturday

Published

After today, you won’t be able to check out books at La Crosse’s Main Street library for the rest of this month.

The building will be closed for about three weeks of renovation work, starting Saturday, and tentatively lasting until March 7th.

Staffers decided that closing the main library completely during the replacement of floors and shelves would make the project go faster than letting customers use the building as normal.

The other two library branches, on Gillette Street and at South 16th Street, will remain open, for extended hours, during the Main Street project, and library Wi-Fi will be available outside all three buildings during construction.

The Main Street library building opened in the late 1960’s.
