A Town of Campbell man is being charged with making terroristic threats against local government officials.

Richard Gilbert was arrested on Monday, after allegedly threatening to kill the Campbell town chairman, and possibly other officials.

Police say the 58-year-old Gilbert has been cited several times for code violations, and for harassing his neighbors. Gilbert had left a message for town chair Joshua Johnson, in which he was quoted as saying “You guys are killing me, maybe it’s time to start killing you turkeys.”

A criminal complaint says Gilbert has harassed town employees recently over building permits, and has been told repeatedly to leave the town hall.

He has an open charge of disorderly conduct in La Crosse County, filed last August, as well as other criminal charges over the last 10 years.
