Human remains found in burned out car near Caledonia, Minn.

An investigation is underway for a body that was found within a burned out vehicle in Houston County.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office describes it as “human remains” in the vehicle located at Beaver Creek Valley State Park, which is five miles west of Caledonia, Minn.

Those remains were discovered around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle was completely destroyed.

Investigators have yet to positively identify the remains.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Southeastern Minnesota Medical Examiners Office are also working on the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office added, “We believe there is no threat to the public and we are confident this was an isolated incident.”
