Residents of La Crosse are known for their generosity, and the area has a large number of nonprofit groups that offer important services.  A new resource for both donors and nonprofit organizations has been introduced locally.

It’s a website called the Nonprofit Resource Center (found by clicking here), created by the La Crosse Community Foundation.

Jamie Schloegel, director of the foundation, admits that she doesn’t know exactly how many nonprofits could benefit from the online center.

“But, I can tell you that, consistently, La Crosse County has more nonprofits per capita than any other county in the state of Wisconsin,” she said. “It’s very indicative of the culture of philanthropy and do-gooders that is alive and well here in La Crosse.”

The website can supply coaching and technical assistance to non-profits, and can bring together donors with agencies they could support.

Schloegel added that one of the main purposes of the website is to connect volunteers and donors with organizations that interest them.

The foundation is collaborating with Viterbo University to offer courses in leading nonprofit groups.
