It has been an unusually warm year in La Crosse — a record-setter, in one way.

The city has had more days of 80-degree weather in 2021 than in any other year on record, according to the National Weather Service – La Crosse. Temperature records date back to 1873.

Sunday was the 109th day of the year that the mercury got to 80 in La Crosse, passing the old record set in 1998.

The first 80-degree reading of this year occurred on Easter Sunday, April 4. There were only four days in June, seven in July, and two in August when the temperatures stayed below 80 degrees.

In 2020, the latest day with 80-degree weather in La Crosse was Oct. 9.

La Crosse’s most recent day with 90-degree weather this year was Sept. 19.

La Crosse has not seen 100 degrees in 2021, but the mercury did reach 99 on both June 5 and 10.
