At 1:30 p.m., Treasurer Sarah Godlewski and Sen. Brad Pfaff will visit Emerson Elementary School, along with other faculty and students.

The two will be highlighting the 2021 Common School Fund Distribution, along with the importance of public school libraries.

Godlewski is also one of many making a U.S. Senate run for the seat currently held by Ron Johnson.

She is also the chair of the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands (BCPL). It announced in March that $39 million would be distributed to public school libraries across Wisconsin — the largest regular distribution in BCPL history.

La Crosse Schools received $311,155 of these funds, which can be spent on a variety of things to help students learn, such as hardcover books, e-books, hotspots and other technology.
