It may seem like we just went to the polls, but today is election day again in La Crosse. Residents are being asked to go to the polls today to select a new mayor. We won’t see the turnout we saw in November, far from it. But as we have said this is an important election, perhaps more important than our most recent election in terms of the impact it has on our daily lives, like whether our street gets plowed or how are garbage is picked up. We have ten candidates on the ballot today, which gives voters plenty of choices. And these candidates deserve kudos, first and foremost for having the courage and energy to run, but also for doing an effective job explaining to voters their stance on the issues. It has been a clean campaign, and the campaigns have been well run. If you still aren’t sure which candidate deserves your vote, it is easy to find out their views on the issues important to you. Our website, wizmnews.com, offers a look at each of the candidates and their thoughts on the issues most pressing to the city. You can even watch one of two mayoral debates on our website before heading to the polls today. The future of the city is in your hands. So, make an informed decision, but above all, don’t forget to vote today. Your vote really does make a difference.
