La Crosse reports back-to-back days with COVID cases in 20s for first time since mid-October

Down to 21 cases of COVID-19 in La Crosse County on Tuesday.

There were 25 cases Monday. Back-to-back days with cases in the 20s hasn’t happened in the county since Oct. 13-14.

La Crosse is averaging 51.0 a day over the past week — mainly because of the 144 cases reported Friday. A week ago, the daily average was 45.

There were 710 county residents that received the vaccine the state reported Tuesday. So far, 15,854 in La Crosse have been vaccinated.

In surrounding counties, Trempealeau reported two virus deaths, bringing its total to 36 — seven in the past month.

Statewide, daily averages continue to go down, except for Iowa’s death toll. The state, for no specific reason, reported 250 deaths on Sunday, nearly tripling its daily average from a week ago.
