Buffalo County man charged with homicide in wife’s shooting death

A first-degree murder charge has been filed in Buffalo County against the husband of a woman who was shot to death on Sunday. 

Thirty-eight-year-old Jonathan Medeiros of Nelson allegedly called the sheriff’s office to say that he had shot his wife Jolene in their home. 

A criminal complaint says Medeiros admitted to grabbing a shotgun, firing once, and then firing a second shot at his wife when she screamed at him. 

Jolene Medeiros was shot in the head, and officers found two gunshot holes in a bedroom wall. 

Bond for Jonathan Medeiros is set at $500,000. He’s being ordered to avoid alcohol, and to not go into bars.
