Not a good time to go on the ice

There may be ice on many area lakes and rivers, but it’s not very safe, according to the La Crosse Fire Department.

People who plan to go on the ice for fishing or other purposes are asked to check the ice as they proceed.

The department reports that some people in the area have fallen through the ice on Saturday because of the poor conditions.
