Winter Clothing Drive happening now in Washburn Neighborhood

A community collaboration came together to give the gift of warmth this winter with a clothing drive through Dec. 18.

The clothing drive is a partnership with the La Crosse Area Family Collaborative, the System of Care program, the La Crosse Police Department Washburn Neighborhood resource officers, and Mayo Clinic Health System.

Donated items will be distributed to those in need by the La Crosse police resource officers, nearby schools, and social workers supporting the Washburn Neighborhood.

Recommended items include new or used clothing in good condition. They are seeking all sizes of coats, hats, scarves, mittens, hooded sweatshirts, leggings, snow pants, thermals, winter boots, and winter socks. They can be dropped off at Washburn Corner (526 10th St. South, La Crosse) Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals can place items at the front entrance in the screened-in porch.

To follow COVID-19 precautions, used clothing should be clean and freshly washed. All garments (used and new) should be donated in a sealed plastic bag. The sealed bags will be sanitized and sit undisturbed for seven days before distribution.
