Wisconsin Legislature least active in nation
We have been critical of the Wisconsin Legislature for its inactivity. Turns our we are not alone. The Wisconsin Legislature, full-time in name only, has taken off most of 2020. They have met in full session just once since March. That is despite all the issues that need to be addressed. No action to help businesses struggling amid the pandemic. No action to address racial injustice or calls for police reform. No debate, not a single hearing. It has now been 176 days since the Wisconsin Legislature last convened in Madison. Their laziness has now garnered the attention of the National Council of State Legislatures, which notes that Wisconsin has had the least active state legislature of any state during the time that coronavirus has ravaged the nation. Despite the fact that Wisconsin has become ground zero for the virus, every other state is doing more. Quite frankly, we’re not getting our money’s worth out of our state lawmakers. They are considered full-time, and draw a full-time salary, but can’t be bothered to go to work, even though there is much work to do.
