Onalaska lawmaker says state study shows him to be most bi-partisan in Wisconsin Assembly

One La Crosse lawmaker often bills himself as bi-partisan.

Now, Steve Doyle has a study to back up his claim.

Democrat Doyle says the report from the non-partisan Legislative Reference Bureau rates him as the most bi-partisan member of the current Wisconsin Assembly.

The report says that based on votes cast during the last two years, Doyle sided with the Republican leadership more often than any other Democrat.

“It wasn’t even a close call,” said Doyle. “I came in Number One, as the most bi-partisan member” of the state Assembly.

In one category, it was 93 per cent of the time on bills where at least one Democrat supported the position of Republican leaders.

Doyle, who’s running for re-election in the 94th District, points out that he is also appointed often to task forces which include members of both parties.

The report also measured when Republicans agree with Democratic leaders, and area reps Tony Kurtz and Loren Oldenburg scored high in that area.
