Trane All-Abilities park moving toward fall opening
Playground equipment, tunnels, and sidewalks are going into place at the new All-Abilities Trane Park on the south side of La Crosse.
Organizers of the nearly $5 million project expect it to be finished sometime this fall.
The existing park near Trane Company factories is being remodeled into a play area especially open to handicapped visitors.
Planners say only a small number of playgrounds around the world are designed with handicap-accessible equipment.
“The theater’s coming along, the tunnel’s in, sidewalks are going in, so every day it makes great progress,” said Jim Flottmeyer, project specialist for the La Crosse park department.
Ground was broken for the All-Abilities park near South Avenue in October of 2018.
