La Crosse County adds 7 cases, 1 more hospitalization, Winona County adds 7 cases, 1 death

Seven, that’s the number of COVID-19 cases that were confirmed Thursday by La Crosse County’s health department.

There are also, now, six hospitalizations — up one from Wednesday.

La Crosse has had a total of 626 cases, including exactly 500 in the past month, when the first of 11 consecutive days with over 20 cases came on June 16.

There are 142 cases still active — 33 cases have recovered in the past 24 hours.

Winona County suffered its first death from the virus since late April. The person was 80-89 years old. Its the 16th death in the county due to the virus. The other 15 were all from the Sauer Health Care senior-living facility. Winona also added seven more cases bringing its total to 163.

A day after reporting a single-day high 21 cases, Trempealeau County added five on Thursday for a total of 221 cases. Fifteen of those 21 cases Wednesday were from a recent National Guard testing site. Two from Thursday were from that site, as well. Trempealeau currently has 69 active cases.

Vernon County (42 total) and Houston County (31) each added one case. Buffalo County remains at 22 cases.

Statewide, Wisconsin confirmed another 900 cases, 45 more hospitalizations and four deaths. The state health department also stated that all seven regions in Wisconsin are now considered to have high disease activity levels.

Minnesota confirmed 611 cases, 31 hospitalizations and eight deaths. In the past month, Minnesota has averaged 7.5 deaths per day. From May 1 to June 16, Minnesota averaged 20.1 deaths a day.

Iowa data showed 701 cases and 19 deaths in a 24-hour period that began at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Iowa does not report daily stats like Wisconsin and Minnesota, instead updating its site in real time.
