Seems pretty good timing to bring a White House corespondent on to talk about presidential leadership in a time of crisis.

That’s exactly what’s happening through the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Thursday with longtime journalist Kenneth Walsh of U.S. News & World Report. His subject: “Presidential Leadership in Crisis.”

“You think about, ‘How do we judge presidents historically?'” UW-L political science professor Dr. Anthony Chergosky said Wednesday on La Crosse Talk PM. “We judge them largely according to what kind of crisis did they face — if they faced a crisis — and how did they handle that.”

Walsh has covered presidents and national politics since 1986. He’s interviewed five presidents and written a book on his lecturing subject that deals with the presidencies from Franklin D. Roosevelt and World War II to Donald Trump and the coronavirus

“The crisis becomes defining moments of presidency and they become critical of how we rank them historically,” Chergosky said.

The lecture will take place from noon-1:15 p.m., followed by a Q&A with Walsh and Chergosky. Registration must be made in advance at this link uwlax.edu/go/webinar-uwl-kwalsh.

It will be available to watch afterward at this link: uwlax.edu/polisci.
