Children’s Museum finds ways to educate during closure

Three weeks of a temporary closure have not stopped a La Crosse museum from doing things to educate and entertain its regular visitors.

Many staffers with the Children’s Museum of La Crosse are continuing to work, says museum spokeswoman Leanne Poellinger.

They maintain an online presence which includes new videos posted on the website “funmuseum.org,” and also on the museum’s Facebook page.

Poellinger says the closure because of the coronavirus has led to a “significant income loss,” because 75 per cent of the annual operating funds come from memberships, admissions, and other activities.

The Children’s Museum of La Crosse has come off its highest yearly attendance ever, with about 75,000 visitors last year.

The building on 5th Avenue South has been closed since March 16th.
