Houston County records its 1st coronavirus case; no new cases in La Crosse but death toll in WI grew by 12

Houston County was the last holdout in southeast Minnesota against the coronavirus, until this weekend. 

The county’s first case of the illness was confirmed by a lab Saturday. 

The patient identified with COVID-19 is recovering at home in isolation. 

The county health department is trying to find everyone who could have been in contact with the patient in recent days, and get them to quarantine themselves for two weeks. 

Fillmore County has reported 10 cases of coronavirus, and Winona County has had a total of 14.   

Over two dozen counties have yet to confirm a case of the virus in Minnesota which had 70 more confirmed cases Sunday bringing the total to 935. Of those 202 have had to be hospitalized, including 22 more Sunday. Of those 202, 106 are in the ICU.

Five more people died in Minnesota from the virus, bringing that number to 29.

Meanwhile in Wisconsin, there were 12 more deaths and 155 new cases of the virus, though no new cases in La Crosse County, which remains at 22. The death toll in the state is now 68 of the 2,267 total cases. Of those, 624 have had to be hospitalized.

Wisconsin has tested 27,436 people for the virus.
