A 33-year-old La Crosse man gets a 12-year prison term, after being convicted of sexually assaulting a then-4-year-old child in northwestern Wisconsin.

Joseph Marks is ordered to serve the term at the Dodge Correctional Center, followed by eight years on supervision.

At the same time, Marks will serve a 1.5-year sentence for exposing himself to the victim, who was 4 years old at the time of the offense.

Marks faced a possible 63-year sentence, after being convicted by a jury in Barron County in October.

Marks was found guilty of similar charges in La Crosse County 11 years ago.

The sentencing judge has ordered Marks to have no contact with minors, including his own children, unless he gets approval first.
