A long prison sentence awaits a former La Crosse man convicted of a deadly shooting at a Hmong festival in the Twin Cities.

Twenty-nine-year-old Nougai Xiong is ordered to serve more than 30 years in prison, for aiding and abetting murder in the 2018 shooting death of Jacky Vue.

Xiong’s cousin, Yang Xiong of La Crosse, was sentenced to 7 years in prison himself for the same case.

A fight between members of two Asian gangs reportedly led to the St. Paul shooting in 2018.

Nougai Xiong had already been to prison for using a stolen car to get away from police in La Crosse.

At the time of the shooting, Xiong was wanted in La Crosse for skipping a sentencing in another court case.
