Former Vernon Co. official to be tried by out-of-county judge

A criminal case against a former Vernon County department head will be heard by a judge from outside the county. 

Richland County Judge William Sharp is being assigned to the misconduct case against Pamela Eitland, who had been human services director for Vernon County. 

Eitland resigned from her post last month. 

She’s accused of stealing more than $5,000 in money set aside for a foster children’s program. 

Eitland is suspected of using that money to pay dental bills for her family. 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
