The new director of the La Crosse Regional Airport will have service expansion and firefighting needs on his agenda when he starts his job next month.

Ian Turner was approved as Clint Torp’s successor by the La Crosse city council late last week.

Turner is scheduled to start work in La Crosse on Sept. 9.

Mayor Tim Kabat likes the types of experience Turner will bring from his current post in Pueblo, Colo., in areas such as rescue and firefighting, as well as motivating staff.

Turner also comes to La Crosse six months after the airport added new daily service to Detroit.
