Jesse Turnmire won’t be back on the street any time soon.

The Bangor man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for being a convicted felon possessing a firearm.

Turnmire made news back in December, when he was released from the La Crosse County jail, only to be arrested again four hours later.

La Crosse police cited the Turnmire case as an example of local judges letting prisoners out of jail too easily.

Turnmire’s release came after he was charged with firing shots outside an apartment complex on South Avenue.

Also sentenced to federal prison on a gun charge…Emmanuel Hunt of Onalaska, who was accused of felony gun possession twice in less than a month.

Hunt’s case also got attention when he was charged with robbing a woman, but the woman claimed Hunt wasn’t the real attacker.
