Wooden park stage built on riverfront for summer

There was lots of heavy lifting for volunteers at La Crosse’s Riverside Park on Tuesday, as about 60 wooden platforms were moved into place near the permanent bandstand that’s now being remodeled.

Those platforms will make up a temporary concert stage for summer shows in the park, while the regular stage is being fixed and a canopy is built over the top.

The Moon Tunes concerts, beginning Thursday, are among the attractions which will happen on the 18-inch high wooden stage.

After the bandstand renovations are done, wood from the platforms will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
