A drug suspect from La Crosse reached a plea agreement Thursday, three years after being charged with drug trafficking.

Douglas Owens admitted to delivering heroin. He told a La Crosse judge that he knew it was wrong to deal in the drug.

In exchange, other drug charges against him will be dropped.

Owens is expected to get probation, with a year in the county jail, when he’s sentenced in August.

Owens and his wife, Juanita, were among a dozen suspected of dealing drugs at an apartment building on West Avenue.

In the fall of 2016, police searched two residences and a candy shop, owned by the couple, and found more than $20,000 worth of heroin, meth and other drugs.
