The amount of growth in the Village of Holmen over the last five years has led to changes in how residents get to work or to their favorite restaurants.

The village is looking at hiring a firm to build a roundabout at the intersection of South Main Street and Gaarder Road.

“It is a safety issue, particularly with the increased commercial capacities in that area,” Village Administrator Scott Heinig said. “It’s just something that needs to happen.

“We did a study to analyze the need for traffic control at that intersection.”

Heinig added that 70 percent of vehicles that go through Holmen will cross through that intersection at some point in the day.

“It’s been made clear by our public that they want to see improvement at that intersection,” Heinig said. “This is all tied to the long-term, comprehensive plan vision for the community.”
