La Crosse man accused of throwing knife, choking woman in domestic fight

That’s what a woman claimed was said to her by a La Crosse man during a domestic incident, before he allegedly choked her and threw a knife at her.
Billy Atwell is accused of strangulation and battery after an apparent fight Wednesday night at the woman’s home in Onalaska.
The victim says the 36-year-old Atwell tried to choke her for as long as a minute.
Atwell claims the woman hit him.
A cash bond has been set at $500.
